Soft Delete v1.2

Last night, I updated my Soft Delete plugin for MyBB.  One of the most fiddly plugins I’ve wrote, it mainly includes some fiddly fixes with counters.  Had to add a new deleted thread/post count to fix up pagination displays, which I didn’t think of in earlier versions, so requires a number of changes.  Other main fiddly part was figuring out a way to resolve a conflict with XThreads template in search results – I ended up getting the soft delete plugin to override what XThreads does, so it handles things correctly.

Next plugin update will probably be a v1.2 for XThreads.

Stewie Griffin The Untold Story

Just finished watching the movie.  Seems to be pretty much like a long-ish Family Guy episode, and inherits pretty much all the traits of one, except there’s a few more ideas that the show goes through.

Unfortunately, IMO, the comedy of FG (Family Guy) gets a little mundane after a while, although there’s usually something new to laugh at, it gets a little repetitive, and I didn’t really find quite a number of jokes that funny.

Overall, show was kinda what I had expected it to be.  Interesting that these big US TV cartoon show movies typically are like extended versions of a normal episode (eg The Simpsons Movie).

Finished Breath of Fire

Yay, after many hours of playing, finally finished BoF (SNES).  I must say, emulators kinda make games more fun cause of savestate and turbo features.

Game itself is okay I think.  Not the best, especially the translation having weird contractions in many parts, and the story being a little lame (actually, it’s more how the characters speak and act, rather than the story).  Also some parts are difficult to figure out what to do next – luckily I decided to follow a walkthrough.  Apart from that, the game is reasonable.

The final dragon form is really overpowered in this game IMO, but then, I guess that’s the point.

Maybe I’ll look into BoF2…

Dual Monitor Displays

UPDATE: Ooh, actually, I’ve found something nice – dual monitors are pretty sweet for virtualisation!  Run VirtualBox on the second screen, full screen.

I’m not technically “advanced” in the sense that I have a lot of gadgets or whatnot.  As such, I just have a single 19″ 4:3 LCD screen display (a bit annoying that you can’t really get any more new 4:3 displays these days).

As the rest of the family is out for the weekend, I decided to try out a dual monitor display, taking the 23″ 16:9 display (I must say, I really don’t like 16:9 for normal use) as the main monitor, and the other 19″ as the secondary.

Thing is, since I never use dual monitors, the other screen is basically sitting here doing nothing…  So I’m left with the wonderful choice of trying to figure out something to put there…

OMG Slow Internet

Everyone knows Australian internet sucks, especially if you’re stuck on a Telstra RIM, like I am. But regardless, I’m paying for 512Kbps internet, so I kinda expect what I’m paying for.

My current download speed is around 10KB/sec, about 5 times slower than it should be. Well, that’s not too bad, as I browse with images disabled, but it seems that pages sometimes cut out, so I have to reload it a number of times before it decides to comply…

And damn Telstra won’t fix their issue. I envy people complaining that their ADSL2+ is stuck at ~300KB/sec…

Hello world!

This is the default WordPress post that gets inserted to every new blog made.

Well, well, this is my first post here, regardless.

I’ve kinda wanted a blog for a while now, but never got around to making it.  I really don’t know how it will turn out however, that is, I dunno whether I’ll keep it updated or not, so I’m going to see how well this turns out.

I guess you can think of this as where I’ll dump my random thoughts and so on, like Twitter, except without being a Tweetard (note the title of the blog being quacks, and not the word representing birds chirping incessantly).

So, if you see this post, you must have stumbled here, because, at time of writing, I don’t recall telling anyone this exists.  So feel proud.  Or not.

Oh, and Hello world.
